I came across this picture today
and found it to be very enlightening. Walking is such a great activity, whether it be for means of exercise or an emotional relaxer. When we are feeling anxious or stressed out, the best thing to do is go for a walk and get some fresh air. Maybe you are really craving a piece of pizza but you know that you don’t have the calorie allowance for it. Instead of sit there and stress out about it, go for a nice walk. Allow yourself to disengage from that stressful situation so you can truly focus on your feelings. Today I was feeling very anxious. I have so many things going on right now in my life between work, school, and home that I just can’t help but feel a little panicky. I decided to go for a nice long walk with Marley. I usually walk him for 5-10 minutes every day but today we walked for 45. It was so nice to just get out of the negative environment and spend some quality time with him. He was so happy to be outside for such a long period of time and I realized that not only is it beneficial for humans, but animals as well. It was such a delight to see him hopping down the sidewalk with the wind blowing in his ears. When I got back home, I felt so much better and allowed myself to just sit down and breathe. So next time you are feeling anxious, keep calm and walk the dog (or the kids, grand-kids, or spouse :p)

Your dog is such a cutie! Some great advice too. I tend to get bogged down when I’m anxious or upset, and forget how much going for even a quick walk or workout helps to clear the mind.
